Disavowed by a majority of voters in a poll he created himself, Elon Musk approved the idea of allowing only subscribers

Elon Musk may not be leaving any time soon.

The boss of Twitter who had put his resignation to the vote on Sunday in a poll – he had even specified that he would “stick to the results” – finally seemed to make an about-face.

In a tweet posted overnight Monday-Tuesday, he endorsed the idea of opening such polls only to Twitter Blue subscribers, with paid Twitter membership conferring certain benefits.

Without saying if he intended to withdraw from the direction of the platform.

In this poll, published by the billionaire after the controversy over the banning of links to competing social networks, 57.5% of the more than 17 million voters said they were in favor of Elon Musk's departure.

“Should I leave the management of Twitter?

he asked on the night of Sunday to Monday on the social network.

“I will stick to the results of this poll,” he promised.

"Twitter Blue subscribers should be the only ones who can vote in policy-related polls" on Twitter, said one netizen, after Musk's "defeat".

To which the billionaire replied that it was a good idea and that “Twitter will make this change”.

He also appeared to approve that his own poll had been manipulated by fake accounts, although he had said days earlier that he had deleted them all.

Good point.

Twitter will make that change.

In an exchange with one of his Twitter subscribers, Elon Musk had assured that he had no designated successor.

In the past, and even before the takeover of the platform, Elon Musk already knew that he would only stay in the lead on Twitter for “a few months”.

“I expect to reduce my time on Twitter and find someone else to manage Twitter over time,” he explained in mid-November, under oath, during a lawsuit linked to Tesla.

Since the takeover at the end of October, the boss of Tesla and SpaceX has caused many controversies by laying off half of Twitter's workforce, reinstating suspended accounts, suspending those of journalists and seeking to launch Twitter Blue.
