At around 3:30 in the morning, it was reported that a barge berthed at the new Yau Ma Tei cargo handling area suddenly burst into flames.
After receiving the report, the fire department classified it as a "secondary ship fire" and mobilized multiple land fire engines, ambulances, and sea fire boats to rescue.
After the firefighters arrived at the scene, they opened their throats and poured out water. It is reported that two people on board suffered injuries to their hands and feet.
It is initially suspected that the generator on board caught fire first, and the fire department is investigating the cause of the fire.
It is understood that the injured were two brothers, the elder of which was staying on the boat overnight and was sleeping when the incident happened.
At that time, the elder brother found that the generator on the boat was on fire and tried to fight the fire by himself, but his hand was burned.
After the younger brother received the elder brother's news, he rushed back to the boat, but slipped on the boat and injured his foot.
Fortunately, their injuries were not serious and they were conscious when they were sent to the hospital.
The barge on site is owned by a company.
The company's office is located on the opposite side of the barge involved in the incident, which was converted from a container.
The office was disrupted in the early hours of the 3rd of this month, including throwing money and throwing flammable liquids.
At around 10:00 p.m. last Wednesday, three forklifts were suspected of being set ablaze on the site, and the loss was reported to be hundreds of thousands of yuan.
As for the generator that caught fire first this time, it is reported that it is used for the crane on the ship, and it is believed that it was not in operation when the incident happened.
