As US parliamentarians prepare to vote on a massive new package of support for Ukraine, several overseas media

It would be his first international trip since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected in Washington on Wednesday, several American media reported on Tuesday, adding that he could address Congress and meet Joe Biden at the White House.

In a letter dated Tuesday, the leader of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, “encourages” parliamentarians to be “physically present” Wednesday evening for a session “particularly devoted to democracy”.

This visit, if confirmed, comes as US parliamentarians prepare to vote on a new massive package of support for Ukraine.

The American president should for his part give the green light to sending Patriot missiles, a particularly sophisticated anti-aircraft defense system, to Ukraine.

The White House declined to comment on this information, according to media across the Atlantic.

Surprise visit this Tuesday to Bakhmout

This Tuesday, the Ukrainian president had already made a surprise - and highly symbolic - visit to Bakhmout, a city in the east of his country ravaged by intense fighting with the Russian forces who have been trying to take it since the summer.

This trip, closer to the clashes, appeared as a challenge to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin who, at the same time, presented decorations to pro-Russian soldiers and separatist leaders in eastern Ukraine.

In addition, the World Bank (WB) announced on Tuesday that it would grant an additional $610 million to Ukraine, in order to enable the country to "meet the most urgent needs" in terms of health.

This support is notably guaranteed for the United Kingdom up to 500 million dollars.
