The "Alpha" program is a joint venture of the Center for Future Scientists of the Maimonides Foundation and the Division for Gifted and Outstanding Students at the Ministry of Education, within the framework of which students study, research and experiment in innovative and fascinating fields as early as high school age.

"About three years ago, I heard about the Alpha program at school," Aviv said.

"This is a research program during which you actually do academic research yourself, and I was very curious. We study certain types of diseases and cancers in the laboratory. We try to study the system in order to possibly prevent the disease in the future. It's not easy, but I try very hard to be organized. Alpha program from the exam This is very good because it gives you the freedom to do things on your own time. It's a supportive framework and all the students here are excellent students. There are many things that intrigue me and my dream is to find the field that interests me the most, to focus and enjoy what I'm doing."

"We use the power of young students, including undergraduates and high school students," noted Prof. Gali Prag, head of the laboratory.

"They integrate into the laboratories and this is a very big advantage of the laboratory, which can integrate research by students from schools. The students who come to us often challenge us with questions that we could not even think of, and this opens our minds as well."

Mirit Barashi, coordinator of the Alpha program at Tel Aviv Youth University, added: "Students who choose the Alpha program choose to challenge themselves at a very young age and do something that most of their peers do not do. We build each child an individual research plan. They face an accelerated process and they have to adapt quickly Very much. This world is new for them, and they have to integrate it with their normal life."

The Alpha program is implemented nationwide in 7 academic institutions: the Technion, the Hebrew University, Tel Aviv University, the Weizmann Institute of Science, Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Ariel University (for girls) and Bar Ilan University.
