(ANSA) - PERUGIA, DECEMBER 20 - "It would take two, three very rainy years to bring Lake Trasimeno back to hydrometric zero": Stefano Proietti Nodessi, head of the Umbrian regional directorate of the "Government of the territory, environment and civil protection" told ANSA ", commenting on the abundant rains that fell between November and December, but which had little effect on the main lake in central Italy.
According to the surveys of the Functional Center of the Procivregionale, the lake basin is currently 1.26 -1.18 meters below the hydrometric zero and therefore remains in suffering.
"Unfortunately we are talking about a not too large reservoir, the only larger canal that feeds it is the Anguillara one but, despite receiving the water from all the minor ditches, it is unable to fill the losses due to drought and strong summer evaporation" Nodessi explains.
"The rains in September, November and December, higher than the historical average - explains the manager - have allowed the lake to recover about 42 centimeters in level, thus going from -1.60 meters at the end of September to around -1.18 at this end December. I remember that a sunny day with a north wind is enough to lower the Trasimeno by two, three centimeters. The other large regional reservoirs are taking up everything possible to be able to face the next summer season,
