On the initiative of the Zarqa al-Yamamah Cultural Foundation, and within the framework of cooperation with the Libraries Division of the Education Directorate, a cultural activity was held today to encourage reading in the Martyr Fahd al-Nimr School for the first basic education cycle in the city of As-Suwayda.

The activity coinciding with the National Day for Encouraging Reading and the International Day for the Arabic Language included poetry and lyric paragraphs and a representative scene by school children that focused on reading, the Arabic language and the book.

A classroom library was opened to be added to the school library. It was provided with stories from Zarqa al-Yamamah Foundation, in addition to the distribution of stories for children to some people by the Foundation and Dar Al-Balad for printing and publishing.

During the activity, the young woman, Tala Yasser Murad, from the Foundation and the Libraries Division of the Directorate of Education and the Teachers Syndicate Branch, was honored. The national team, in addition to honoring the school librarian and her friends from the children as an incentive for them.

The head of the Libraries Division at the Directorate of Education in As-Suwayda, Marwa Al-Khatib, indicated during her speech that the initiative came within a group of initiatives with the Foundation with the aim of establishing the habit of reading and making it a way of life, highlighting libraries and motivating children to go to them, and building a conscious and educated generation capable of facing the challenges of life and making the future.

The Executive Director of the Foundation, Wassim Abu Fakhr, pointed out that the initiative is in line with the young reader competition that the Foundation holds annually, and the consolidation of cooperation with educational and cultural institutions, indicating that the Foundation distributed 4,000 thousand stories free of charge to children at the governorate level to encourage reading.
