Typical Starnberg: In front of the castle wall with a view of St. Josef and the castle, Kasperl Larifari and Co. think about why the level of the lake has dropped so much and what needs to be done now.

"Ammerprinz und Würmseekönig" is the name of the current production of the Starnberg Marionette Theater.

After the Corona break, the Starnberg Marionette Theater celebrated a premiere again for the first time.

The play "Ammerprinz und Würmseekönig" will be performed.

Starnberg - With the lovingly staged play "Ammerprinz und Würmseekönig", the Starnberg Marionette Theater finally celebrated its premiere again after a two-year Corona break.

Unfortunately, many spectators did not find the performance, but Ella, Marie and Luis and their dad came from Alling and visibly enjoyed it with two other spectators.

Rightly so, because you can enjoy the attention to detail of the equipment and the gracefulness of the dolls from the first to the last minute.

The charming taunts against Starnberg and the tongue-in-cheek dialogues do the rest, so that adults can also enjoy the very special Punch and Judy show.

The lifelike stage design is also great with the Starnberg Castle and the castle wall, with St. Josef Church and the castle gate and with the rippling underwater world of Lake Starnberg, in which creepers proliferate.

But the best thing is the characters.

Nothing is missing there.

In addition to Kasperl Larifari, there are funny water spirits, a lovely Würmsee mermaid and the strict Würmsee king, a diligent servant, a sorceress and assistant and the noble Prince Ammer.

Bluebeard's beard reaches down to his feet, unicorn and spider are there, wolf and snake, the smart Brezn-Sepp too, and then Jan appears, a northern light from the Waterkant, who climbs over the s-pointed stone s-stumbles and faces very difficult tasks together with Kasperl.

The history

The story is truly Starnbergerisch.

The water level of the lake has dropped by two meters.

Letting the lake dry out is not possible.

"You don't have to think about what the residents say." There is also a treasure at the bottom of the lake, and Kasperl is supposed to salvage it, together with Jan. So they have to go 120 meters down, "with magic caps, then you don't have to gasp for air".

It rhymes neatly.

If the mission is successful, Kasperl will be rewarded with a new hat and Jan with a new sailor's hat, which "hopefully doesn't make too much of a dent in the town hall coffers".

With a hearty “Aside, folks!

We dive!” the two splash into the water.

The mission succeeds, of course, and the viewer goes home with the realization: A kingdom at the bottom of the lakes only exists in the country of five lakes.

The ensemble

Three new players, Bettina Tircher, Susanne Oswald and Nidal Al Hajrachid, have joined the marionette players Monika Eibl, Dietmar Köstler, Andrea Szabo and Susanne Oberhauser-Knott.

As Susanne Oswald tells us, she was welcomed with open arms.

"A cool group," she says happily.

Getting started was "nice and easy".

Leading the figures is "a great challenge", the difficult thing is "giving the right gestures".

She experiences the interaction and the stage play as a challenge, whereby she emphasizes that the Starnberg group is "highly professional".

Since September, we have practiced once a week for three hours in the evening and on a workshop weekend.

"It's great that you can fall back on something like this in Starnberg," says Susanne Oswald.

By that she also means the rich stock of over 350 figures.

Youngsters are always welcome in Starnberg.
