Goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, who was captain of the Mexico team in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, finished his second spell with América to continue his career in Europe, the Mexican club reported on Tuesday.
The 37-year-old goalkeeper, who participated in his fifth World Cup in Qatar, returned to the "Águilas" del América in 2019 after passing through clubs in Europe.

"After three and a half years in his second stage as goalkeeper for Las Águilas, Guillermo Ochoa says goodbye to the institution that saw him grow and establish himself as a historic player for America and Mexican soccer," the club said in a statement.

"Thank you Guillermo Ochoa for helping to build our history of greatness, you will always be an Eagle from the cradle. We wish you success in your next challenge in Europe," the team posted on their Twitter account.
The goalkeeper began his career in 2004 with América, where he was champion of the Clausura 2005 tournament. In 2011 he moved to Ajaccio in France and three years later he arrived at Málaga in Spain, from where he was loaned to Granada in 2016. A year later He went on to Standard de Liège in Belgium.
"I will always be grateful to the American fans and board of directors for their unconditional support," Ochoa was quoted as saying in the Club América statement.
