1,868 new cases reported from 713 schools
The Department of Health has discovered 8 more local cases with mutated virus strains today, namely 5 cases of XBB, 1 case of BF.7 and 2 cases of BQ.1.1 sublineage, and a total of 149 cases of XBB, 18 cases of XBD, and 1 case of BA have been found .2.75.2, 11 cases of BF.7 and 171 cases of BQ.1.1 subtype.

In terms of schools, 713 schools reported 1,868 new cases, and 42 classes in 39 schools had to be suspended for five days.
As for residential care homes, 31 residential care homes had confirmed cases, including 23 elderly care homes and 8 disabled care homes. Among them, 46 residents and 7 staff were diagnosed. The case should be isolated.
27 critical and 21 serious confirmed patients newly reported
The Hospital Authority announced that yesterday (21st) 4,143 patients diagnosed with the new crown were hospitalized in public hospitals.
Among the confirmed patients staying in the hospital, there were 549 newly confirmed patients.
2,792 people are in isolation facilities, 516 are receiving oxygen therapy and 68 are on ventilators to help them breathe.
The number of new hospital stays compared to the total number of hospital patients was 13.3%.
A total of 27 critical and 21 serious confirmed patients were newly reported, and currently a total of 136 critical and 144 serious confirmed patients are hospitalized, a total of 280, a new high after 0+3.
Among the patients in hospital, 35 critical patients are receiving intensive treatment.

9 new deaths reported without injection
