The municipality of Neuried has not had its household under one roof so early in years - which is also due to the departure of Treasurer Roland Zürnstein at the end of the year.

Neuried

- The municipal council passed the budget for 2023 in the session on Tuesday against votes from the CSU parliamentary group.

With a total volume of 58.7 million euros, the figures are well above the figure for the previous year (plus 16 million);

35.9 million are accounted for by administrative budgets and 22.8 million by property budgets.

Neuried municipal council adopts budget earlier than it has been for a long time

In order to finance the budget, the municipality has to withdraw EUR 13.4 million from the reserve and take out a loan of EUR 6 million.

Originally, the sale of the property in the center of Neuried was supposed to bring about 17 million euros into the municipal coffers, especially for the purchase of the town hall property on Hainbuchenring.

As reported, the municipal council has decided to lease the area long-term.

Michael Zimmermann (CSU) criticized the fact that the community continued to owe money.

"I hope that next year more attention will be paid to the finances again." Mechthild von der Mülbe (SPD) explained with a view to the town center property and the purchase of the town hall property that assets had to be offset.

It is better and more sustainable to take on short-term debt than to sell community-owned property.

Corinna Pflästerer-Haff (Greens) saw it that way.

It was a "foresighted and groundbreaking decision" not to sell the property.

Future generations would also benefit from the increase in the value of the land.

"The debts will be reduced at some point, but the property will remain with us," said Markus Crhak (BZN).

The main problem is not debt, but that the municipality has hardly any real estate.

Luis Sanktjohanser (FDP) also pointed out that the level of debt has even decreased compared to the last budget.

The municipality's debt level is expected to be around 16.8 million by the end of 2023.

In order to finance her household, Neuried has to take out a loan of six million euros

The main sources of income for the municipality are trade tax and income tax, which are estimated at 15.6 and 8.6 million euros for 2023, respectively.

Due to the recent very good tax revenue, Neuried has to pay 12.7 million to the district as a levy (2022: 6.4 million).

Higher expenses are also expected for staff due to the expected wage settlements.

EUR 9.6 million have been budgeted for this.

2.3 and 2.1 million respectively are earmarked for the completion of the construction measures at the elementary school and the day-care center on Bozaunweg.

The municipality is also investing in disaster control (593,000 euros), a new all-weather pitch for TSV Neuried (400,000 euros), the renovation of municipal residential buildings (390,000 euros) and the conversion of street lighting to LED (300,000 euros).
