Al-Hasakah City Council, in cooperation with the Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, carried out an afforestation campaign, within the Martyrs' Park in the city of Al-Hasakah, in celebration of the Tree Festival.

During the participation in afforestation, the Governor of Hasakah, Dr. Louay Sayoh, indicated the importance of planting forest trees in parks and fairways in terms of giving aesthetics to the city, pointing out that the afforestation process comes within the framework of the celebration of the Tree Festival to compensate for the vegetation that has lost a lot as a result of terrorism and sabotage that affected forest parks.

The head of the Hasakah City Council, Eng. Adnan Khajo, said in a statement to SANA reporter: “The council planted 200 forest trees in the Martyrs’ Garden located in front of the Edward Iwas School, which is within the organizational plan of the City Council, and is considered an outlet for the people, as the garden was equipped with a water well that works on alternative energy.” To ensure that the trees are watered as they were fully lit, and he pointed out that the goal is to restore the vegetation cover of the gardens and medians, especially as they were subjected to attacks and unjust cutting, and to give an aesthetic to the city.


For his part, the Director of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Eng. Ali Al-Khalouf, indicated that the aim of celebrating the Tree Festival is to remind the importance of the tree and to work to plant more trees to restore vegetation cover, whether with forest or ornamental trees, calling on the local and civil society to cooperate and work to protect the forest plants that are being planted. Cultivate it, and prevent anyone who tries to trespass on the gardens, as they belong to everyone.
