Li Jiachao and his wife Lin Lichan arrived at the airport at about 1:00 this afternoon, and set off for Beijing to start a 4-day work report trip.

He will depart for Hong Kong at noon on Saturday.

After arriving in Beijing, Li Jiachao will stay at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Tomorrow in Zhongnanhai, he will be received by President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang respectively, and will report on the latest developments in Hong Kong's economy, society and politics. He is also expected to meet with officials from the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office and various ministries and commissions.

There is even news that he may meet with Li Ke, a member of the new Politburo Standing Committee who is regarded as a popular candidate for the next prime minister.

This is Li Jiachao's first work report itinerary after taking office. Before the executive meeting yesterday, he said that he would report to the leaders the overall situation of Hong Kong and the control of the new crown epidemic, and truthfully reflect the expectations of Hong Kong citizens to be free from quarantine and customs clearance with the mainland.

The accompanying Hong Kong government officials included Ye Wenjuan, Director of the Chief Executive's Office, and Du Jieli, the Chief Executive's private secretary.

During Li Jiachao's absence from Hong Kong, Chief Secretary for Administration Chan Kwok-kei acted as Chief Executive.
