Corona hammer in Austria: the first school reintroduces the obligation to wear a mask

In Austria, an elementary school is now taking drastic measures because of Corona.
According to the media report, all children must wear masks again and be tested.
Vienna – According to experts, the corona situation in Austria seems to be quite stable at the moment.
So far, there has been no corona winter wave.
Data from the wastewater indicate a stagnation in the infection process, according to the Austrian Covid Prognosis Consortium in its current report (December 20).

Now there is apparently a particularly drastic case: An elementary school in Vienna-Liesing is reintroducing the obligation to wear masks and tests.

The school pulls the ripcord regarding Corona before the start of the winter holidays (from December 24th).
The parents were informed of the measures in a letter.
A corona-positive person was present at the “Christmas singing”, and then there was another case in a collection group for the early shift.
Masks are now compulsory for all children and adults throughout the school building.
Furthermore, an antigen test is to be carried out on all students on December 21st and 23rd.
If there is no consent, a test result from an authorized body must be presented.
Without a test, a child is not allowed to take part in the lessons, it is said.
The procedure had been agreed with the education authorities.
Current corona situation in Austria
In Austria, the 7-day incidence nationwide is 377.8 and in Vienna 597.7 (for comparison: in Germany, the RKI gives the value as 250.7).
In Vienna, FFP2 masks are still compulsory on public transport and in pharmacies.
The measure will probably remain in place for a longer period of time.
The ORF reports that flu cases are skyrocketing in the Austrian capital.
These are record values for the data collected since 2009.
