50 parrots, worth an estimated tens of thousands of shekels, were found today (Wednesday) in a dark shelter in a residential building in the center of Ramla.

Inspectors from the Ministry of Agriculture in cooperation with the Ramla Municipality and the Nature and Parks Authority removed the birds, which were kept in deplorable conditions.

An investigation shows that the purpose of keeping the parrots was for trade.

The parrots were kept in small, crowded cages, without necessary and basic conditions for their growth, including standing sticks full of waste and excrement, which endangered their lives.

A preliminary examination shows that some of the parrots suffer from untreated medical problems.

All the birds were evacuated to a protected facility of the Ministry of Agriculture together with the Nature and Parks Authority for further treatment and rehabilitation.

About two weeks ago, during a search for weapons and means of warfare in the village of Shibli in the north, seven starving and neglected dogs were found in a pen.

The dogs were rescued from the scene and taken for veterinary treatment.

One dog is in critical condition, after being poisoned, he did not survive and died on the way to treatment.

The dogs were tied and surrounded by dirt, scraps, glass and tar.

They were emaciated and without access to food and water.

The police called to the scene the members of the veterinary services and the inspectors of the Central Enforcement and Investigations Unit (PISUH) at the Ministry of Agriculture. An inspection revealed that the dogs are not vaccinated and are not registered. Most of the dogs found at the scene are of the bull terrier breed, which is defined as a "dangerous breed", and various restrictions are imposed on its breeding and maintenance .
