Honoring the winners of the Golan Prize for Literary Creativity

The Quneitra Governorate, in cooperation with the Quneitra Culture Directorate and the Nour Association for Relief and Development, honored the first three winners of the “Golan Competition for Literary Creativity in the Field of Poetry and Story” and the best book, in a ceremony held today at the April 7 Theater in the Directorate of Culture.

In the field of poetry, Michel Al-Eid won the first place for his poem “Wajh Hanzala”, in the second place Zahir Muhammad Jamil Al-Qatt for the poem “Mother of Glory” and Enas Al-Taweel in the third place for the poem “The Woman of History”.

As for the field of story, Safwan Al-Ibrahim won the first place for his story “The Ring”, Issam Muhammad won the second place for “A Grain of Wheat” and Hassan Muhammad won the third place for “The Tragedy”. In the category of the best book, Fawzi Al-Shanyour won the first place for his book “In order for the jasmine to smell”.

The poets expressed their pride in this award, which bears the name of the Golan Heights, stressing the continuation of their creativity and literary and poetic writings that praise the Golan Heights as land, people and civilization.

The governor of Quneitra, Eng. Moataz Abu Al-Nasr Jamran, pointed out the importance of the award, as it bears in its contents meanings and connotations in the heart of the Syrians for the name of the occupied Syrian Arab Golan, indicating that the heroic epics waged by the heroes of the Syrian Arab Army, and its victories over terrorism, are a source of inspiration and literary creativity for Syrian creators.

The Director of the Quneitra Culture, Ahmed Al-Marzouki, pointed out that the Golan Prize for Literary Creativity is a dedication to the culture and approach of resistance, which is a form of resistance and bears the name of the Golan, as an affirmation of our people’s insistence on liberating it and the return of the people to their land and homes from which they were abandoned by the Israeli occupation army after 1967.

It is noteworthy that the Golan Prize for Literary Creativity in the field of poetry and story has been launched since 2000.
