With the aim of integrating people with disabilities in the workplace, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor held today a training workshop for a number of human resource managers for a group of private companies in this field, at the Youth Empowerment Center in Damascus.
The workshop lasts for two days and focuses on defining the concept of diversity, knowing the meaning of inclusion and comprehensive inclusion, misconceptions and facts about persons with disabilities, introducing the International Convention for Persons with Disabilities and national legislation in Syria in this field and the economic benefits of adopting inclusion in the workplace.
Director of Social Policies at the Ministry, Awatef Hassan, stated in a statement to SANA that the aim of holding the workshop is to educate and motivate employers to employ persons with disabilities in a suitable work environment for them, noting that the international agreement included in its provisions their right to decent work, and it is necessary to provide facilities. them, which contributes to their integration into society more.
In turn, the founder of the “Disability Intilaaqah” initiative, Mona Amqi, indicated that training is important for people with disabilities to qualify them to enter the labor market more and show their skills and abilities, explaining that the goal of the initiative is to pay attention to people with disabilities to enable them and integrate them into the labor market through training courses in cooperation with a number of associations.
A number of the participants stressed the importance of the workshop in terms of highlighting the capabilities of people with disabilities and knowing the points that should be focused on to facilitate their integration into the labor market. While Nader Al-Naddaf, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Al-Haneen Noor and Amal” Association for the care of people with cerebral palsy, pointed out that the association focuses on vocational training in some professions that are compatible with their health conditions and the nature of their disability.
