His body was found Tuesday afternoon, around 3:30 p.m.

Pierre Agasse, 88, had been missing since last Friday.

He had not given any news since leaving his home in Saint-Étienne-de-Montluc, near Nantes (Loire-Atlantique).

The gendarmerie had then launched an appeal for witnesses to help it in its research.

The gendarmes of Sautron and Saint-Étienne-de-Montluc were particularly mobilized.

After carrying out patrols with tracking dogs, they were about to leave with the Saint-Hubert, a dog with an exceptional sense of smell.

There are only about ten in France.

At that time, the authorities received a call from a farmer telling them that he had found the body of the octogenarian in his field, mired, still in the town of Saint-Étienne-de-Montluc.

On the spot,

"nothing suggested that it was a suicide or homicide"

, noted the gendarmerie.

The body has since been returned to the family.
