Centre-left and Movimento 5 stelle will jointly support Pierfrancesco Majorino as candidate for president of Lombardy.
After the agreement on the program of the past few days, Giuseppe Conte's ok on the name of the Pd MEP arrived today.
Consequently
+Europe withdrew its support for the candidate
.
"With Pierfrancesco Majorino we shared the need to mark this path through the principles linked to political ethics and transparency": thus the Lombard coordinator of the Five Star Movement,
Dario Violi
, comments on the ok on the name of Pierfrancesco Majorino by the leader Giuseppe Conte who "asked for reassurance on the fact that the entire coalition demonstrates total transparency in matters of: legality, the fight against corruption and conflict of interest, adhering to ethical and moral codes linked to both politics and the administration of the public good ".
The councilor underlines that "the moral question remains the beacon of our political action".
All the more reason, he explains, "in light of the news relating to the 'Quatargate' scandal in relation to which Pierfrancesco Majorino demonstrated in practice, with his votes and his amendments, that he was totally extraneous".
"I asked Majorino to be the guarantor of these principles
- he added -, as regards all the lists that will support his candidacy. We want to build another Lombardy together, where the high value we attribute to the institutions can be reflected in the compliance with ethical codes".
As a consequence of the decision of the Cinquestelle, + Europa withdraws its support from Pierfrancesco Majorino as a candidate for the presidency of Lombardy, now that in addition to the centre-left, the Movimento 5 Stelle has also entered the coalition.
"The choice of the PD and candidate Majorino to change the coalition that had initially chosen him and to forge an alliance with the M5S - underlined the secretary
Benedetto Della Vedova
-
is a political and electoral error
in which +Europe will not participate, as we had clarified from the first minute. With the populists in Lombardy you don't win, you don't govern".
