The Freising Citizens' Foundation has launched a competition on the subject of climate protection.

18 projects were carried out at eight schools.

Freising

– climate protection is the order of the day.

It's never too early to start, as was shown in a school competition organized by the Freising Citizens' Foundation.

A total of 18 projects were started and carried out at eight schools.

The chairman of the foundation, Josef Hauner, was full of praise at the award ceremony in the Lindenkeller.

He spoke of a "great success" and that all schools had submitted "projects worthy of funding".

It was packed in the Jagdstüberl.

Eight schools in Freising took part in the climate school competition.

Projects full of creativity and environmental awareness were launched.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Put a lot into it

The pupils, whole classes and grades, had put a lot of effort into it and achieved something remarkable in a relatively short time.

Everyone was eagerly awaiting the award ceremony.

The joy was great everywhere.

Because none of the participating schools should go empty-handed.

The jury did not have an easy decision to make.

Actually, everyone deserved a main prize.

In the end, however, there were six times 500 euros and two times 2000 euros.

Money that came from sponsors, but also from the community foundation itself.

The Hallbergmooser Spedition Barth+Co provided 5,000 euros for the "Climate School Project", the design agency "typneun" 999 euros and the Freising Community Foundation 1,001 euros.

Very impressed

The foundation and sponsors were very impressed by the response and the results.

Rightly.

At the St. Lantpert elementary school in Lerchenfeld, the second graders had dealt with the bee as a climate indicator.

In the further course of the project, a flower meadow will be sowed in the school garden and bee-friendly useful shrubs will be planted.

At the FOS/BOS, the topics of waste avoidance and waste separation have been addressed.

Various projects dealt with sustainable consumption and the exchange of second-hand clothes.

The schools at a glance

At Camerloher-Gymnasium, the calculation of the school's carbon footprint and energy saving in the areas of procurement, nutrition and mobility were dealt with.

The project “Philosophy Children” was launched at the Academy for Social Pedagogy.

The questions and content raised by the prospective educators revolved around the topic of sustainability.

It is planned to encourage further Freising facilities for this format.

At the Hofmiller-Gymnasium, the playground has been enriched with a 30 square meter flowering meadow.

It is intended to serve as an additional food source for the school's own bee colonies.

For all these efforts there was 500 euros each.

The school projects were presented by Hauner, his deputy Peter Spanrad and Karl-Heinz Wimmer, member of the Board of Trustees.

Finally, the Freising Special Needs Education Center and the Gute Änger Secondary School were each awarded 2,000 euros.

The latter developed and implemented an energy-saving program in the "School Aquarium" elective.

Among other things, new, energy-saving fluorescent tubes and filters were installed.

It is also planned to largely produce the feed for the fish in-house in the future.

In the special educational support center, a fourth class has taken over the sponsorship for a meadow orchard and flower meadow in cooperation with the landscape conservation association.

A waste separation campaign has also been tackled at the support center.

The main prize winners presented their projects themselves.
