The first copies of the RER NG could circulate from September 2023 on the current line of the RER E. A little later on the RER D.

This does not mean an acceleration of the calendar but it is a further step towards improving daily life.

A RER NG train, built by Alstom, arrived a few days ago at the technicentre in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges (Val-de-Marne).

It will allow the drivers of the RER D and E lines, on which the new trains will soon be running, to get to grips with it for the first time.

A total of 255 copies have been ordered from Alstom by Île-de-France Mobilités, the authority that organizes transport in Île-de-France.

The SNCF Paris-Est technicentre, in Noisy-le-Sec in Seine-Saint-Denis, has already hosted five.

The French manufacturer, which manufactures one per month, will gradually increase the rate to supply the requested number.

Astom test center, near Petite-Forêt (North).

The RER N is in the production and test phase.

Here, a finished train carries out its rolling tests.

Because the expectations of travelers are high.

Spacious, comfortable, with colored seats, these new trains have nothing to do with the current aging equipment of the RER D. The RER NG have 50 USB ports per car, information screens, SOS buttons and greater total passenger capacity.

Air conditioning and heating adapt in real time to the number of passengers for more pleasant transport conditions in all seasons.

The doors are much wider and will make boarding and alighting trains smoother, even in the busiest stations.

Finally, studied both for the dense zone and longer journeys to the greater Ile-de-France suburbs, the trains will offer four different rooms for each wait: the lower room, comfortable and practical for medium durations, a reception area for short journeys or the last minutes of waiting before stopping, the high room, bright and quiet for long distances, and a space dedicated to wheelchair users or pushchairs.

“We are waiting for the stamp from the certification authorities.

We hope for next spring, detailed Olivier Péase, commercial director, a few weeks ago during a visit to the Alstom site.

Only then will they be able to take passengers on board.
