This is a first for a French political party.
The Socialist Party (PS) has declared that since November 7 it has implemented menstrual leave for employees of the national headquarters.
The measure had been defended during the presidential election by their candidate Anne Hidalgo.
This optional right must make it possible to improve
“the quality of life at work and more particularly the well-being of women”
, justified the management in a press release published on Wednesday.
According to an Ifop survey published in October 2022, two thirds of employees are in favor of it in the event of painful periods.
The PS is thus following in the footsteps of its Spanish counterpart.
Socialist deputies voted Thursday, December 15, in favor of a bill to create menstrual leave.
If the text is definitively adopted, Spain will become the first country in Europe to incorporate this measure into its legislation.
A leave also acclaimed in France by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, without being applied in the ranks of La France insoumise (LFI).
