Details are not yet known.
Late on Tuesday evening, the British daily The Guardian was the victim of a major computer incident which could be a cyberattack accompanied by a ransom demand, the media itself announced on Wednesday.
Employees have been asked to telecommute and some internal services (not visible to the public) have been cut.
However, the site and the application continue to operate.
The newspaper also hopes to be able to publish its paper edition on Thursday.
Teleworking maintained for several days
“The VPN and network issues are still ongoing,” said an email sent to Guardian teams on Wednesday, as reported by Record media.

"We suspect this is a ransomware attack, but we continue to investigate all possibilities," the group's chief executive and deputy Guardian editor told employees.
“Our technical team is working on all aspects of the incident and the majority of our teams have been able to work from home, similar to the Covid-19 pandemic,” officials continued, calling on employees, “with some exceptions near”, to continue teleworking until the end of the week.
The Guardian, founded more than two centuries ago, publishes 100,000 copies every day and its site attracts 150 million unique visitors per month.
