After years in the US, the high-tech man and the shoe designer returned to Israel. They bought a house in a suburb in the center, but had trouble leaving America behind, and asked the designer to design a house for them like in America

The entire garden was uprooted and redesigned.

Tenants:

couple + 2

Area:

200 square meters built on a 250 square meter lot

Interior design:

Keren Maimon

When the couple purchased the house in one of the suburbs of the center, they were clear about how they wanted it to look after the renovation.

"They asked for a house that would remind them of life in America. It was important to them to create a practical house with a lot of storage spaces in a warm and inviting American style. The house is characterized by American elements, and at the same time the design is boutique."

says interior designer Keren Maimon.

The house has undergone a total renovation and in fact only its skeleton remains.

"The entire interior of the house was destroyed and replaced, we added an attic, the basement was upgraded and it is used as an office and guest room, the garden was also moved and completely changed with a wooden house and pampering corners," explains Maimon.

Renovating the house took a year.

Just like the usual style in America, a light-colored American oak parquet was laid on the floor of the house.

A plaster wall was built in the living room, inside which an air conditioner unit is hidden and a huge television hangs on it.

In the lower part of the wall is a gas fireplace.

The furniture chosen for the living room is white and has blue decorative pillows that add interest.

A lighting fixture that spreads across the ceiling like octopus arms was specially designed and creates a focal point that draws the eye upwards, in an unusual way.

"There are many elements in the house that were chosen inspired by the American style, such as custom-made carpets, golden lamps and straw, all with modern touches," says Maimon.

One of the dominant elements in the house is the huge black library that starts in the public space and continues up to the living floor.

"It is a very complex construction of a library that spreads out in two different spaces. It is a double-sided library that goes up with the stairs to the second floor and is used both as a storage place and as a railing. A very meticulous design that was custom-made."

Adjacent to the library (in the lower part) is the kitchen painted graphite gray.

The precision in the carpentry is reflected here as well and all electrical appliances are placed in an accessible manner inside the cabinets, thus the work surface remains clean and tidy.

To the right of the sink, a concept cabinet inside which is a hidden coffee corner.

At the request of the couple who like to host, six light gray and black chairs were placed around the island, cylinder lamps of different lengths and different angles were installed above the island.

One of the most important renovated spaces is the basement where the home office and family corner is located.

"It was very important to the couple to create a study that on the one hand would be intimate and quiet and on the other hand accessible, so that through it you could have eye contact with the children."

Tells Maimon.

To this end, she enclosed the workroom in glass with a black Belgian profile that allows privacy and harmonious integration with the family and games corner.

The floor of the entire floor is covered with white parquet to illuminate the space, which is slightly darker than the rest of the house.

The monochromaticity is also maintained in the bathrooms.

The color palette chosen for the house - black, gray and white is also reflected in the bathrooms.

"In the parents' bathroom, we chose three-meter slabs in a stone-like black color to create a sense of uniformity and continuity."

Tells Maimon.

The guest toilets were designed in a dramatic style and in order to overcome their small size, the designer decided to take the sink out of the space and create an entrance to the toilets, with a desktop sink placed on a shelf.

The garden was rebuilt and the exit to it is made through Bauhaus windows that create continuity and bring the outside into the interior of the house.

Three materials were chosen for the garden floor - granite, deck and grass that create interest and play.

A shower outside of wood was built for the children's enjoyment and as in every American home, how could it not be?
