A vegetable grower is at a loss: his tomatoes have developed a life of their own - their growths are as unusual as they are funny.
Some pranksters may even see male body parts in it.
Sula Peci from Wesel has been growing tomatoes for 30 years and can already call 333 varieties his own.
So it's not surprising that the 60-year-old is known regionally as the "tomato whisperer from the Lower Rhine".
But the experienced botanist has been at his wit's end for some time now, because something strange has been happening in his greenhouse since this season.
"Help, my tomatoes are mutating!" - says the vegetable breeder to

.
This is nothing unusual in itself, after all there are even special contests for some types of vegetables because of them.
Peci's cheeky fruit vegetables would certainly draw everyone's attention.

According to him, Peci has already registered more than 50 mutations this year, and the trend is rising.
Not only do the tomatoes grow unusually large and heavy, they also take on outgrowths and shapes that make you laugh at first sight.
"This vine tomato grew a long nose," he says, showing reporters a "Pinocchio" specimen.

Who knows that tomatoes can be such cheeky little fruits?

A yellow bottle tomato is particularly explicit "thanks" to its double outgrowths - the word "food porn" immediately takes on a completely different meaning.
For vegetable fetishists, Peci's mutant tomatoes are a real feast for the eyes.
The "tomato whisperer", on the other hand, cannot explain why his tomatoes are suddenly so out of control.

Although he also considers climate change, he has another explanation ready: “African basil and chaste tree are in the greenhouse for the first time.
The plants also flowered there for the first time – a festival for bees and bumblebees.
Perhaps pollination produces such results.”

Perky mutant tomatoes are in great demand
In order to test his thesis, he put the seeds of the mutant plants in seed pots, which by the way also works with zucchini.
"I'm very excited to see what develops from this." It is certainly not wrong to elicit the secret of the cheeky fruit vegetable.
After all, the great tomatoes are really popular with his customers, he explains.
However, the vegetable grower has no interest in turning it into a successful concept.
The bold wild growth is not for sale, Peci finally announced.
