The weather in Bavaria remains extreme - instead of snow and cold, severe storms and even flooding threaten just in time for the Christmas weekend.
Munich – The good news first: The heating in Bavaria can be turned down again in the next few days.
The freezing cold of the last few days, including dangerous black ice warnings, is rapidly approaching its end.
But then the bad news - it's going to be pretty uncomfortable.
Black ice, storms and constant rain in Bavaria – it all starts on Thursday
At least from a weather point of view, the Christmas holidays will be anything but contemplative.
But first things first.
It starts already on Thursday, December 22nd.
According to the German Weather Service (DWD), there is a threat of locally black ice "on the Inn and Salzach, as well as in the Passau region" in the early morning hours.
During the day it will be stormy and rainy.
According to the DWD, in the western and northern regions there is a risk of “strong to stormy gusts of around 60 km/h, towards the Allgäu also stormy gusts of up to 70 km/h from the southwest.”
In addition, the DWD warns of continuous rain in Bavaria, which leads to a risk of thunderstorms in Oberallgäu, for example, from Thursday evening.
But even during the day it will rain continuously in Bavaria, with temperatures of around six degrees.

It will also rain on Friday, December 23, but with rising temperatures of around ten degrees.
Expert Kathy Schrey also speaks of "continuous rain" on the

Appropriately, the title of the weather video also says "shock weather at Christmas".
Heavy gusts of wind are also possible.
And even on Saturday, on Christmas Eve, there is no improvement in sight.
On the contrary: the continuous rain continues, according to the DWD "in traffic jams, 140 liters per square meter cannot be ruled out until Saturday!" According to the weather map, the temperatures have meanwhile dropped back to around eight degrees.
With regard to the continuous rain that lasted until December 25, Schrey even speaks of water quantities that are not normally reached even in a whole month.
Thick rain clouds are rolling towards Bavaria - according to the forecast, it will be very uncomfortable in Bavaria towards the Christmas weekend (symbol image).

Up to 50 liters per square meter are within the realm of possibility.
Together with the thaw, a dangerous combination is created that could result in flooding.
Take Maxau-Weiler as an example: “The water level can double here, from four to eight meters,” explains Schrey.
Streams and rivers could therefore overflow their banks - caution is advised.
There definitely won't be a white Christmas.

Weather situation in Bavaria calms down – after Christmas Eve
On Sunday, December 25th, the continuous rain dried up - and even the sun came out from time to time when the sky was cloudy.
The temperatures on Christmas Day are around seven degrees in the north of Bavaria around Nuremberg, and can rise to around ten degrees in the south-west.
