School level, equal opportunities: the Minister of Education Pap Ndiaye reiterated Thursday, December 22 in a column published in
Le Monde
his priorities for the school, before announcements which should take place at the beginning of the year 2023.
According to Pap Ndiaye, “
the findings are harsh.
They concern the crisis in the recruitment of teachers
” but also “
the level of students, whose international comparisons reveal the worrying shortcomings.
They also reflect the daily experience of establishments, where the annual timetables in each discipline struggle to be covered
”, he writes in the preamble to a column entitled “
Why we must reform the school
”.
“The overall level drops”
The Minister then referred to "
the general distrust, marked by the rise in power of the private sector and by the skepticism expressed by some of the parents
", recalling that "
one in two French people does not trust the educational institution, although that three quarters of them trust the teachers
”.
He highlights his "
requirement
" on the school level of the students.
“
Results in national and international assessments are not satisfactory.
Let's be clear: the overall level is falling!
“, he exclaims, proposing to set “
ambitious objectives
”.

still insist on the fundamental lessons, in particular in CM1, CM2 and 6th

The break between CM2 and 6ème is too strong.
It reinforces educational inequalities rather than reducing them.
Regularly working on spelling, conjugation and grammar, further consolidating or deepening French and mathematics in 6th grade

Measures concerning this passage are expected at the beginning of 2023. Developments concerning the classes of 5th, 4th, 3rd "

", announced the Minister.

A school which, while promising it does not grant equality, produces not only injustice, but also mistrust and a feeling of anger in the working classes
", he affirms.

I will announce in a few weeks a range of actions aimed at promoting diversity

objectives will be assigned to the rectors of academies who, in conjunction with local authorities, will be able to act in particular on school assignments.
Private education under contract will have to make its contribution to this effort

at the same time, I will initiate the construction site of the overhaul of the priority education map
