A young Arab man was shot dead last night (Wednesday) when he tried to buy an air rifle in Jaffa from a 22-year-old resident of Hod Hasharon. The shooter was arrested, and the investigation revealed that after the two met for the deal, the shooter refused to sell the weapon to the young man, because he is Arab.
A confrontation broke out between the two and friends of the victim arrived at the scene and tried to rob the weapon.
So the 22-year-old pulled out his personal weapon, which he holds a license, and shot the young man dead.
According to the resident of Hod Hasharon, he acted in self-defense and wanted to shoot in the air, but this morning an indictment was filed against him, the court released him to house arrest.
Judge Alaa Masarwa wrote in his decision: "The investigation file shows the existence of a reasonable suspicion of only basic strength. The suspect cooperates fully in his investigation and raised a claim of self-defense. At this stage, no evidence has been found that contradicts the suspect's version. This is a young suspect, a graduate of an elite unit in the army and a licensed for possessing a weapon who works as a security guard and is a completely normal person."
Yesterday, a man was shot to death in Barhat and another person was moderately injured.
A medical team that arrived at the scene gave them medical treatment and evacuated them to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva, where a few hours later one of the wounded was pronounced dead.
Two suspects involved in the shooting were arrested last night, and a preliminary investigation shows that the incident was criminal and took place against the background of a family dispute.
The police also stated that a suspicion of a conflict between brothers was being investigated - according to which the victim, Amir Sami Ziadna, was murdered by his brother.
