The Ministry of Health has allocated a medical team in Al-Mazzeh Mall in Damascus to raise awareness of the harmful effects of white sugar and conduct a rapid sugar test, as part of the activities of the health awareness campaign (Do not sweeten it with excess).
In a statement to SANA, the head of the third health zone in Mazzeh, Dr. Maha Al-Bahra, stated that the campaign aims to raise awareness of the dangers of white sugar, and the importance of eating it in moderation in order to reduce its harms, because excessive consumption can lead to various diseases, including obesity, which increases the incidence of diabetes.
Regarding the mechanism of work of the medical team in Al-Mazzeh Mall, the public health specialist, Dr. Hana Khaddour, indicated that random samples are taken for those who wish to visit the mall to determine their blood sugar values and refer them to the health center in case the percentage is high to carry out additional analyzes and follow-up with them, pointing out that the turnout and desire of citizens Make a great test.
A number of people who conducted the test stressed its importance, including Abdul Karim Al-Shawish, who indicated that it is necessary for people who do not suffer from any problems with sugar to avoid infection with it, and for people with diabetes for continuous monitoring and the absence of complications, while Ghada Al-Sharif pointed out the importance of this procedure, especially For those who have a diabetic patient at home, and the test must be done permanently.
On the 16th of last month, the Ministry of Health launched a health awareness campaign entitled (Don't sweeten it with excess), which includes holding community events, educational lectures, and distributing guidance brochures on the harmful effects of white sugar on public health and the need to follow a healthy lifestyle to prevent diseases.
