A culture award from the Greens is intended to encourage the volunteers from the Waldramer Badehaus to set further accents.

The work is already "great"

Waldram - The district parliamentary group of the Greens visited the memorial bathhouse in Waldram at the beginning of November.

The politicians were so enthusiastic about the work that they awarded the “Green Wanninger” to the Bürger fürs Badehaus Waldram-Föhrenwald association for its outstanding voluntary commitment.

The "Green Wanninger" is a cultural prize that the Greens have been awarding since 1988.

Its namesake is the bookbinder Wanninger from the famous play by Karl Valentin.

Wanninger tries to get simple information over the phone – and is put through from pillar to post.

The result: He should please call again the next day.

Greens honor volunteers: "The association makes an important contribution to democracy"

According to the Greens, the prize is intended to encourage people not to give up and to set visible accents.

“With its great work, the association makes an important contribution to our democracy.

Remembering, admonishing, educating, offering spaces for discussions - all this characterizes the association with its chairman Dr.

Sybille Krafft with me,” said the parliamentary group leader Martina Neubauer.

District Councilor Georg Buchwieser emphasized the "extremely important importance far beyond the region".

Immediately after his visit he signed a membership application.

"The prize is also intended to draw even more attention to the project," says District Councilor Elisabeth Janner, who organized the visit.

Wolfratshausen-Waldram commemorative work: The district has an eventful history

Ten years ago, the association began its work to bring the building with its eventful history back to life.

In 1939/1940 the National Socialists built a settlement for armaments workers in the Wolfratshauser Forest.

Föhrenwald later became a camp for so-called "displaced persons".

In this case, it was Jews who survived the Holocaust.

From 1956, large Catholic families settled in Föhrenwald - and the place was renamed Waldram.

The 550 members of the association put more than 45,000 volunteer hours into their project to document the history.

"The 'Bathhouse as a Place of Remembrance' museum illustrates a unique history of migration in an exhibition that is well worth seeing," summed up.

Voluntary commitment: Wolfratshauser Museum receives another award

In the current year, the memorial project has been honored with seven prizes: the Obermayer Award, the GoVolunteer seal for excellent commitment, as a top excursion destination for families in Bavaria, on the "Walk of Fame" in Wolfratshausen, with the Sparkasse Citizens' Prize and the German Commitment Prize .

In December there was also the award “Active for Democracy and Tolerance”.

The awarding of the "Green Wanninger" is to take place in May at a matinee.
