– The students of the Kurt-Huber-Gymnasium (KHG) ended the year on Wednesday evening with a selected music program and got in the mood for the upcoming Christmas days.

As usual, the “Rose of the KHG” was awarded as part of the Christmas concert.

This time the award for special achievements in the service of the school community went to Maren Mitterer.

With words of praise, Andrea Rückert, pastor in the school service, expressed her gratitude to the student, who, among other things, was the student representative at the KHG for two years.

The list of bearers of the rose is long and dates back to 1996/97.

Andrea Rückert herself was honored last year and gave the laudation for this reason.

"I think many people deserve the rose of the KHG," said Rückert.

Because the commitment to others is lived by many students, colleagues and parents at the school.

"That's exactly what makes the KHG such a special school for me," she said.

Maren Mitterer was involved in many areas of the school.

It was not about being the center of attention and getting attention and praise, but about the common cause.

"The award winner is a person who not only cares about the people in our school and our togetherness here at the KHG, but also about what is happening in the world," said the teacher.

Maren Mitterer is also politically active and, for example, was involved as a climate activist with Fridays For Future and carried tens of thousands of people with her poetry slams that she wrote herself.

Maren Mitterer is still a member of the Tanzania-AG, for which she has been involved since the 5th grade.

She has written countless articles for the school newspaper and annual reports and recorded several “KHG asks about podcasts”.

The award winner was touched and speechless when she received the large bouquet of flowers and the award board.

Maren Mitterer replied that school had shaped her and explained her motivation for getting involved: "We have many privileges here, but we also have the responsibility to use these privileges for the benefit of the world community."

Under the direction of Barbara Heindl, the Lower School Orchestra performed a demanding potpourri of classical pieces and traditional Christmas carols, including Trepak from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite, before the award ceremony.

Conducted by Isabell Schlicht, the middle and high school choir sang pieces by Cass Elliot (Make Your Own Kind Of Music), Carole Stephens (Gloria!), John Rutter, accompanied by piano (Peer Fischer and Louisa Schneider) and clarinet (Katjana Gerholdt). (Look At The World) and Lloyd Larson (Hymn Of Advent).

In the second part of the concert, the orchestra (conductor: Barbara Heindl) presented Palladio by Karl Jenkins and the Christmas concert by Giuseppe Torelli.

The orchestra and middle and high school choir together with Hark!

the Herald Angels sing (F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy) and an arrangement of Peace peace and Silent Night (Franz Xaver Gruber), which the concert-goers finally agreed to.
