Confirmed: Munich climate sticker in custody for a long time - further actions announced

Ten climate activists from the group "Last Generation" have to face several days in prison in Munich. 

Munich – A judge at the Munich District Court confirmed an application by the police for preventive custody, the police said on Thursday (December 22).

If a judicial review during the period of detention reveals nothing else, the activists will be released between Christmas Eve and January 5, 2023.

Everyone had previously announced that they wanted to take part in adhesive protests again, which are also prohibited by general decree in Munich until January 8th.

All ten activists were noticed by similar actions before the blockade in the Berg am Laim district on Wednesday, the police said.

They were reported, among other things, for coercion and a violation of the general decree.

In addition, the police want to charge them for the costs of the police operation and the detachment from the street.

The group “Last Generation” repeatedly draws attention to itself with protest actions against what they consider to be inadequate climate policy in Germany, with the main focus so far being Berlin and Munich.

Activists from the group sawed off the top of the Christmas tree at the Brandenburg Gate on Wednesday morning.

On Tuesday, supporters of the group also tried several times to get stuck on the road at Munich's Karlsplatz (Stachus).
