The scene, which takes place in a train, is incredibly violent.
On a video captured using a smartphone, several individuals verbally assault a man entrenched in a row of seats.
In between, a young woman (later identified as his companion) tries to protect him.
After yet another salvo of insults, a very violent blow goes in the direction of the man, then a second.
The victim hardly reacts.
The insults then continue to rain down, despite the tears of the young woman who tries to protect her companion.
As the video ends, a final bang is heard offscreen.
Posted online, the video sparked outrage on social media.
Internet users then explained, wrongly, that the man attacked, Tom D., was disabled.
At the time of the events, he was actually alcoholic.
According to information reported by the
Courrier Picard
, three of his attackers were arrested in the process.
Two of them were quickly judged in immediate appearance at the Amiens judicial court: Logan R. is 22 years old and Enzo S. has been an adult for a year.
Twelve months in prison
Returning from the France-Argentina match on a train linking Amiens to Abbeville, Tom D. and his companion initially got "
tangled
up " with a first group of young people.
They were then attacked by the two defendants and other young men.
Tom D., a biology undergraduate student, then showed no aggression, as demonstrated on the video.
The young man, alcoholic, is like anesthetized.
During the hearing, again according to the
Courrier Picard
, one of the defendants quickly confessed to the charges against him.
With three mentions to his criminal record, Logan R. (who shot the video) explained "
just having only put two shots
".
Enzo S., nine convictions to his credit, denied any involvement in this brawl, the origin of which is unclear.
For this assault, Logan R. and Enzo S. were sentenced to twelve months in prison.
