Hypocritical hysteria: the current outcry about the death of democracy was also premature Israel today

2022-12-22T21:36:32.210Z

Looking at the history of the last decades, since the Oslo disaster, illustrates how two-faced and false the many warnings about the "destruction of democracy" • The deportation of the terrorist Salah Hamouri should serve as an example of determination for the incoming government

The fever of legislation before the formation of the government, which reached its peak this week, raises a tsunami of cries of despair about the end of democracy.

We keep hearing about the rape of the Knesset, the politicization of the police, the trampling of every norm in a reformed country.

Against this background, it may be desirable to mention, at the end of the day, what are the norms that have been established in the past by governments of various kinds.

It was Yitzhak Rabin's government, which broke the commitments to its voters in 1992 not to negotiate with the PLO, and signed the Oslo Accords. In order to pass the agreements in the Knesset without having a majority, it systematically bribed some of its opponents. The Oslo Accords I She passed with the votes of Shas party voters - the people of the right.

Aryeh Deri betrayed his voters in exchange for a far-reaching political bribe.

Among other things, he accepted from Rabin and Peres legislation that gave Shas circles and ultra-Orthodox courts control over all meat imports into the State of Israel, through the Meat and Meat Products Law, which was enacted in 1994, at the request of Deri and his people.

The Oslo II agreement was passed by Rabin's coalition with the votes of two bribed members of the right-wing party Zumat - the drug offender Gonen Segev and the electrician Alex Goldfarb.

And of course, the Oslo votes were based on the votes of the Arab - anti-Zionist parties.

The security establishment opposed Oslo's madness, then received an order to "replace the diskette".

To ignore everything the professionals knew up to that point about the PLO and Arafat, and surrender to the false vision of Fondak and Beilin. The one that blew up, as expected, in our faces. Just imagine Itamar Ben Gabir ordering the police to change the diskette and ignore reality, on command.

Then came what was maliciously called "disengagement", when Ariel Sharon broke what he promised to his voters and then to Likud officials.

The Chief of Staff, Bogie Ya'alon, stated that this was providing "support for terrorism", and was therefore replaced by a charlatan, who jumped to a standstill according to the instructions of the Farm Club. The IDF was ordered to psychologically deceive the public and the settlers, and the democratic process was launched.

To eliminate the widespread public protest, the government used a crushing hand through the police, the prosecutor's office and some judges.

At the behest of the people of Sharon, the prosecutor's office and the police demanded that any girl who dared to stand on the road and wave a banner be arrested until the end of the proceedings.

The same goes for the one who stood on the roof of the synagogue in Kfar Darom and waved the Israeli flag.

The Mochi of Kfar Darom were marched in groups of 50 to a makeshift judicial facility set up by the government inside the Beer Sheva prison.

They were sent to seven days of automatic detention, without trial and respect for basic rights.

At the same time, the police, on the orders of the government, stopped empty buses in the north of the country and confiscated the drivers' keys, so that protesters would not drive to the south.

In general, the screamers now beeped the rules of the democratic game again and again, for example during periods of transitional governments.

Thus after the fall of the government of Ehud Barak, who tried to sell the land to the Palestinians in Taba talks, a few days before the elections.

This is how Yair Lapid and Bani Gantz, who two days before the last elections handed over territories and strategic rights to an enemy state - Lebanon.

At the same time, they tried to blackmail the next government by appointing Meni Mazuz as chairman of the Appointments Committee for eight years. Indeed, they are glorious Democrats.

Personal disgust

Despite all these, even what Netanyahu and Deri are creating these days screams to the heavens.

Although the laws led by Ben Gabir and Smotrich are supremely important and democratic, the retroactive purification of the convicted criminal Arie Deri, who only recently tricked the legal advisor and the court, is not.

And in general, the very course of legislation that is being conducted now, before the signing of the coalition agreements and the formation of the government, is embarrassing and out of place.

It stems only from the complete lack of trust of the coalition partners in the government.

Potential scum also lies in any legislation or passage of empowerment designed to save the fate of leading politicians, or to discriminate favorably against the ultra-orthodox sector.

The same goes for excessive legislative moves, such as the cancellation of the reason for reasonableness regarding administrative acts of the government.

However, looking at the history of the last generation, since the Oslo disaster, illustrates how hypocritical and false the current protest against the "destruction of democracy" is.

That's why we need to take a deep breath and hope that the current confrontation between the views will lead to a point of balance and not to destruction.

Because there is an urgent need for a dramatic shake-up of the democratic system.

Introduce a fundamental reform in the relationship between the authorities, certainly in the legal advice system, especially in matters of the Judiciary. It is also important to shake up the police, the army and the Shin Bet and force them to rethink, without the hand-binding diskettes of the past decades.

It is forbidden to destroy, certainly not to serve the personal interests of corrupt politicians and exploitative sectors.

But democracy has been trampled by the left so many times and has endured, that it is likely that it will endure this time as well.

A severe deportation, for example

The French government and the UN spokesmen did explode with rage this week, but despite this terrorist Salah Hamouri was put on a plane and deported far away towards Paris. Despite blatant international threats, the almost former interior minister, Ayelet Shaked, completed a precedent-setting move of deporting a convicted terrorist, a resident of Israel, After denying him his residency Hamouri is an extremist activist of the Popular Front, who was convicted of trying to murder Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, was released in the Shalit deal and continued to be involved in terrorism.

Hamouri's case should mark a path for the embarrassed and weakened Israeli authorities.

To this day, he was expelled from here with great difficulty, and after a petition to the High Court, only Mubarak Awad. Whoever preached to Mary was a Palestinian citizen, even though he was a tourist - not even a resident. Convicted terrorists, whether they are residents or citizens, and even if their status is revoked, continue to live here and at our expense , to enjoy national insurance, unemployment benefits, allowances, and the like. To this day, despite endless legislative initiatives, the full rights of those who tried to eliminate us - Israeli citizens and residents - are still not automatically denied. C.

Another example of Israeli laziness was revealed this week with the European Union's document, which was published on Channel 13. A document that reveals how foreign countries and organizations are brazenly and defiantly rowing against Israel's rule and sovereignty in the United States. In this case, it is an organized plot for the Palestinian takeover of Area C, with European funding and direction. Thus, the Europeans and the UN are protesting the deportation of the terrorist Hamori on the grounds that Jerusalem is an occupied territory, which we have no authority to control.

At the same time they are tweeting about Israel's authority in the Yash.

Until now, Israeli governments have been paralyzed, but the deportation carried out this week is an exception that proves how much it is necessary and possible to change direction.

The incoming government must embrace the determination of the deportation process.

This way we will behave like a country that wants life, and we will also demonstrate to everyone who controls us from the outside that the show is over.

were we wrong

We will fix it!
