On the occasion of Christmas and New Year's Eve, the Qamishli City Council lit the Christmas tree this evening in Al-Quwatli Street in the city center of Qamishli, with an official and popular presence.
And the priest of the Church of the Virgin Mary in Qamishli, Abd al-Masih Youssef, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that lighting the tree is a message that we send to the world as Syrians, that the light of truth must spread in this country that deserves joy and goodness and overcome all adversities because it is a life-loving people, pointing out that the people of Qamishli, with their harmony and love, represent Syrian people in all their sects.
In his turn, the head of the Qamishli City Council, Eng. Suhail Rahawi, stated that lighting the tree is a message of giving, love and peace, pointing to the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab Army, hoping that the new year will be a year of safety and peace for all Syrians.
