Activists of the "Wor for Future" alliance discussed with the mayor of Wolfratshausen - in the end there was a concrete result.

Wolfratshausen – For months, the “Wor for Future” alliance has been insisting that climate protection be boosted in the rafting town.

Now “Wor-for-Future” representative Jan Reiners announces in a press release written together with Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner: The alliance and the city are planning a “joint event on climate protection” for next year.

Mayor invites climate activists to City Hall: This is the result of the talks

Alliance activists demonstrate before every public city council meeting, and at the most recent town hall meeting in the Loisachhalle, Reiners and his comrade-in-arms David von Westphalen made two motions: the city council should dictate the installation of photovoltaic systems by the city council in future land use planning.

Point two: The city council should develop a “climate protection action plan”.

According to the German Weather Service, Wolfratshausen is a "high-risk flood area," Reiners noted.

He called for "concrete measures" that "must be reviewed annually".

Both motions did not find a majority in the citizens' assembly.

Alliance explains vision of "climate-neutral Wolfratshausen"

However, City Hall boss Heilinglechner promised “Wor for Future” a meeting behind closed doors that took place recently.

Kirsten Vogler, Managing Director at City Hall, and the city's environmental and climate protection manager, Vivian Horngacher, took part.

Maren and Jan Reiners, Stefan Öhm, Petra Buziol, as well as Naomi and David von Westphalen came for the climate alliance.

According to their own statements, they presented their vision of a "climate-neutral Wolfratshausen" to the mayor.

In a nearly 40-page brochure, "Wor for Future" summarized the positive effects of climate and environmental policy measures for the city in the areas of urban climate and traffic, energy, mobility and construction.

Jan Reiners: "It lists proven solutions from numerous small and large communities in Bavaria and beyond, with which climate protection and more can succeed."

Wolfratshausen City Council declared a climate emergency in 2019

As reported, the Wolfratshausen city council declared a climate emergency in 2019.

The CSU, SPD and Greens had applied for it.

Günther Eibl (CSU) emphasized at the time that the decision should not only have a “signal effect”, but should also ensure that climate protection measures are implemented more quickly in the rafting town.

"All future city council decisions and all administrative actions should be based on this task," said Eibl in the autumn of three years ago.

Understandably, change scares many.

"Understandably, change scares many," reports Reiners after the meeting with the head of the town hall, Heilinglechner.

"It divides our society.

But if we don't act now, we will lose a lot that is dear to us." Against this background, the alliance wants to show local politicians "as concretely and vividly as possible that we as a society should actively take the changes into our own hands , instead of being helplessly changed by the energy crisis, climate crisis, inflation, war and so on.” Reiners: “Then it’s a change for the better.”

Event on climate protection in Loisachstadt at the end of April

A joint event on climate protection is to take place at the end of April.

The aim is to “involve all interested citizens on the way to independence from oil, gas and coal as well as better municipal value creation and climate protection.” Reiners and Heilinglechner state: “Through positive change in our city, we as citizens can preserve our homeland.

And make them even better together than before.” (cce)
