The "shared apartment with service" donates 2,000 euros to the blackboard.

More and more people in Geretsried and Wolfratshausen need food from the food distribution.

Geretsried – The “living community with service” on Adalbert-Stifter-Strasse made a nice gesture: They donated the proceeds from their Advent bazaar, where they sold homemade and cooked items as well as cookies and mulled wine, to the Geretsrieder-Wolfratshauser Tafel.

"Because we didn't like the figure of 1,360 euros, we added another 640 euros from the gymnastics group," explains Rosa Rappl, explaining the round donation sum of 2,000 euros.

“And there are also a few hand-knitted socks for children.” The flat-sharing community became aware of the social facility through a newspaper article, which provides food to the socially disadvantaged with its volunteer helpers.

Donation to the Tafel: The money is urgently needed

"We currently supply 400 customers per week," reports Tafel boss Heidi Ritter.

Only recently 20 people were added to the issuing office in Wolfratshausen.

Due to the current political and economic situation, Ritter anticipates a further increase: around 35 percent more people could come to the edition next year.

Ritter refers to other food banks that have already stopped working due to a lack of food.

"One must not forget: We only provide the extra income here, but not the basic needs."

The Tafel boss provides another number: "We distribute about 150 kilograms of sugar in a week." At the moment, however, it is difficult to buy large quantities of food.

"That's why we're happy about everything we get." Durable food - rice, pasta, canned food, sugar - is urgently needed.

Rappel and her companions Cornelia Irmer and Bärbel Hantke were impressed by the work of the local food bank.

"We give this donation from the heart," say the three women, "because we know that it is guaranteed to reach the right people."
