Russia announced that the Kyiv regime is obstructing the resumption of exporting Russian ammonia to the international market, noting that this is evidence of a party that does not help ensure global food security.
The Russia Today channel website quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement about the progress of the implementation of the Istanbul agreement, the export of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea, and the resumption of Russian food and fertilizer exports: “The talk is about 7 million tons of crude annually, enough to produce 25 million tons of fertilizer. This makes it possible to provide food for 150 million people,” noting that this is evidence of a party that does not help ensure global food security, but rather exploits the needs of African, Asian and Latin American countries, including fertilizers, and seeks narrow goals.
In a separate statement, the ministry said that Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin yesterday held a new round of consultations with United Nations officials, including Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Rebecca Grynspan and Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths.
According to the statement, “Vershinin discussed with UN officials issues related to the implementation of the Istanbul agreements, and the continued obstruction of supplies of Russian products to international markets due to unilateral sanctions, as there is no possibility of making bank transfers, banning insurance and preventing entry to ports,” pointing out that without Arranging Russian fertilizer and food supplies The issue could turn into a crisis.
