Tempo 30 throughout the town and the right-before-left rule: this will apply in Egmating in the future.

But there are some exceptions.

Egmating

– The whole of Egmating will be a 30-zone: the municipal council made this decision at the most recent meeting.

Admittedly, a decision that sounds a bit more spectacular than it is.

The municipal council can only decide this for the municipal roads.

The EBE 12 (district road) and ST 2081 (state road) crossing the town are not affected.

Finally: Tempo 30 in the Schloßstraße Egmating thanks to the new after-school care center

In the latter, in the center of the town, where it is called Schloßstraße, past the kindergarten and school, a speed limit of 30 km/h has been in effect since the beginning of December - this has long been demanded and, according to the town hall, can now be implemented because of the new after-school care center, the entrance and exit of which leads to the street.

Right-before-left rule in Egmating requires new signs

The local council is now following suit.

In many places, due to the now adopted 30-zone regulation, right before left will apply in the future.

Signs should indicate this.

There are exceptions to the new regulation: Jägerweg and Lindacher Straße remain as connecting roads in areas where a speed limit of 30 applies, but which have the right of way.

The streets Am Mitterfeld and Buchgraben remain subordinate, traffic-calmed areas (“play streets”) in terms of priority.

Concern on the steep section: 3. Mayor fears new accident focus

The decision passed the council with only one dissenting vote.

However, it was loud.

3. Mayor Markus Winter (CSU/FWG) predicted: "There will be serious accidents with cyclists!" His concern was the sloping Apostelweg, which merges into Dürnhaarer Straße in the direction of Sauerlach (Munich district).

There, the right-before-left right-of-way change poses a danger, since it is more difficult to brake on a slope in order to give way to vehicles approaching from the right.

At the steep part of the Apostelweg, where the Kreuzberg street meets from the right, a serious accident happened in 2019, but it had nothing to do with the right of way: A tractor-trailer combination with many young people from the boys' association from Taufkirchen (Munich district) was on the road got out of control and tipped over on a steep climb.

There were 17 injured.

Apostelweg in Egmating: Trucks can continue to use the "bypass race track".

The municipal council rejected a citizen's concern in the same session: a resident of the Apostelweg had demanded that it be closed to delivery traffic and trucks.

The route is a "bypass race track for those driving around the 30 zone Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn to Aying".

According to the administration, the traffic was counted in the second half of July 2022.

There was neither an increase in traffic nor noticeable speeding.

On this basis, the municipal council decided to keep the Apostelweg open to trucks as previously regulated.
