Spreading the light:
The Hanukkah holiday was celebrated last night (Wednesday) across the country on the occasion of the lighting of the fourth candle.
Among other things, a particularly exciting class was held with Muslims studying in Israel as part of a student exchange program.
In a ceremony held at HIT Holon Institute of Technology, a fourth candle was lit with about 40 foreign students from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Russia studying at the institution.
The one who lit and blessed the lighting of the candles was the president of the institute Prof. Eduard Yaakovov.
As someone who was born in the Soviet Union, Prof. Yakovov promotes close academic relations with the former CIS countries.
The foreign students live in the new dormitories inaugurated this year at the academic institution and study at the Institute of Design, Industrial Engineering and Management and Mathematics.
At the end of the candle lighting ceremony, Prof. Yakovov told the foreign students why Jews celebrate Hanukkah, and explained the customs and foods of the holiday.
After the candle lighting ceremony everyone ate donuts together.

"For most of the students who were present at last night's candle lighting ceremony, it was the first time they heard about the Hanukkah holiday," said Prof. Yaakovov, "Israeli holidays and festivals are always an excellent opportunity to expose the foreign students to the tradition and culture of Israel.
"In my meetings with them, I always discover young people who are thirsty for knowledge about us in the country and as a people, who want to gain experiences during their stay here. HIT will continue to lead these collaborations for the promotion of science, higher education and Israel's relations with the countries of the world."
