“
Arrogant asshole
”: the sale of a parliamentary transcript in which the New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, describes an opposition MP in these terms, brought in 59,400 euros on Thursday, December 22 to a charity.
"
I can't say that I expected
it", posted Jacinda Ardern on social networks about this "
misstep
" which finally raised 100,100 New Zealand dollars (59,400 euros) for the Foundation against New Zealand prostate cancer.
“Good spirit” of the deputy
Last week, a microphone in Parliament picked up these words from the Prime Minister who was returning to her seat, exasperated by a heated exchange with the leader of the right-wing liberal party (ACT) David Seymour, an opponent.
The latter then demanded an apology from Jacinda Ardern to the president of the chamber, resulting in the transcription of the remarks in the minutes of the parliamentary session.
David Seymour then had the idea of using this dispute to support a good cause.
He offered to the Prime Minister to co-sign this transcript and auction it, which Jacinda Ardern immediately accepted.
“
The result is better than we could have dreamed of
,” reacted the deputy in a press release sent to AFP after the sale.
