More and more parking spaces are disappearing in the city center – most recently in the valley.
The promised replacement is still missing.
The residents are therefore angry with the city.
Recently in the city center: Nina Breiter drives around for 35 minutes until she finally finds a parking space.
"And I drive a Smart," emphasizes the Munich native from the citizens' initiative (BI) Tal.
Despite the small car, the search for space is not only getting out of hand for them because there are no parking spaces - only recently four again at the Merkur fountain in the valley.
They had to give way to bicycle parking facilities.

Because in other places it has not been possible to park for a long time due to stopping restrictions or new taxi ranks (e.g. on Hochbrückenstrasse or Bräuhausstrasse).
One thing is clear: the valley is to become a pedestrian zone in 2023.
It is logical that there are no parking spaces.
What annoys the citizens' initiative: The promised replacement - 29 resident parking spaces on Marienstrasse and Lueg ins Land - is a long time coming.

"It can only go step by step," says Margarethe Stadlbauer, spokeswoman for BI, and demands:
"If I take something away on the one hand, I have to create something on the other." She also thinks it's crazy that the bicycle parking facility in the valley was built right now - in the middle of winter, when fewer people cycle and many motorists would come to Munich to go shopping.
She is not alone with this opinion.
"Mounting bike racks in winter is something only Munich can do," says radio and TV presenter Roman Roell from BI.
Competitor Susanne Haas says: "Completely pointless, the main thing is that parking spaces are destroyed."
“Communication with residents is zero”
What also annoys Stadlbauer: "The communication between the city and the residents works at zero." Not even a notice has pointed out that the parking spaces at the Merkurbrunnen are currently no longer available.
She also calls for the will of the public to be taken more into account during planning.
"I find it impossible that citizen participation and workshops have taken place first and then that is not included."
Andrea Stadler-Bachmaier (Greens), head of the Altstadt-Lehel district committee, cannot understand the excitement.
The procedure had already been extensively discussed in the mobility committee in July.
"In one point, it was decided very clearly that the area around the fountain should be transformed into a pedestrian zone before the other measures to convert the valley," she says.
The tests for a park concept are meanwhile underway, the results should be available in the first quarter of 2023 and will then also be discussed in the city council in the second quarter.

CSU submits application for more citizen participation
The city council faction of the CSU and Free Voters, meanwhile, is on the side of the BI.
In an application, she calls for better involvement of the citizens in the redesign of the valley.
"Many residents and business people in the valley would like to play a constructive role in the redesign," says CSU city council member Hans Peter Mehling.
It is completely incomprehensible to him why the mobility department ignores this positive willingness and is also covered by the city council majority.
