Speaker of the People's Assembly, Hamouda Sabbagh, during his meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Syria, Shahid Akhtar, affirmed the strength and depth of the historical relations between the two countries, and the need to continue strengthening and developing them in various fields, especially in the parliamentary field between the People's Assembly and the Pakistani Senate and House of Representatives.
Sabbagh pointed to the necessity of intensifying meetings and exchanging visits and experiences in order to achieve growth and prosperity for the peoples of the two friendly countries, appreciating Pakistan's stances towards Syria and its just causes and its keenness to continue and develop relations with it, calling on the ambassador to convey the reality of what Syria was exposed to in terms of a terrorist war and a conspiracy that targeted all aspects of life in it. Despite all the difficult circumstances, the Syrian state did not hesitate to secure the basic and medical necessities for its people.
For his part, Ambassador Akhtar reaffirmed his country's position in support of Syria, its territorial integrity and territorial integrity, and its legitimate right to defend it, expressing his pride in representing his country to Syria and its people, who deserve all appreciation and respect for their resistance and steadfastness in the face of war and siege, pointing to the importance of developing and strengthening commercial and industrial relations with the Syrian side. In the field of education and education through the exchange of scholarships and educational missions.
The meeting was attended by members of the People's Assembly Bureau, and the head of the Syrian-Pakistani Parliamentary Friendship Committee.
