Despite the vaccinations against the corona virus and the return to normality that occurred with the end of the closure period, the adoption of animals in 2022 was cut in half compared to 2021, as reported today (Thursday) by the Let Live Live association.
According to the association's data, only 347 dogs and 181 cats were adopted in the last year, which is a sharp decrease in animal adoptions.
If that's not enough, more than 300 dogs were abandoned by their owners, who took them back from their adoption and returned them to the shelters.
One of the prominent reasons for this, according to many animal owners, is the issue of the cost of living.

"The year 2022 was not an easy year, which provided the animal associations with a lot of work," stated Havit Havit.
"This year, the phone at our rescue call center received about 3,700 calls about animals in distress. Rescue vehicles and volunteers went out to rescue, collect and transport 1,132 injured dogs and cats to clinics in Ramat Gan and Ashkelon."
It was also reported that at the same time as the non-stop treatment of injured animals, 1,208 dogs and 13,682 cats were spayed, neutered, treated and vaccinated by the association.
