The area that was transferred to modern irrigation amounted to about 2,205 hectares, with a budget of 22 billion and 50 million pounds, within the production plan of the National Project Fund for the conversion to modern irrigation for this year, according to the director of the fund, Eng. Hani Hamadeh.
Hamada indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that 316 farmers benefited from grant decisions for modern irrigation networks through the fund in the governorates of Damascus, Aleppo, Daraa, Tartous, Hama, Homs, Lattakia, As-Suwayda, and Quneitra, with a total amount of 11.5 billion pounds, while the value of support amounted to 4.415 billion pounds.
Hamada explained that 279 modern irrigation networks were implemented this year, with a total area of about 600 hectares, at an amount of 8.1 billion pounds, noting that the Fund’s branches in the governorates were assigned to hold seminars in cooperation with the agricultural extension departments in the agricultural directorates to acquaint farmers with the advantages of switching to modern irrigation and the advantages that it provides. provided by the Fund in this area.
Hamadeh confirmed that the Fund's plan for 2023 includes converting about 1,700 hectares to modern irrigation, with a budget of 20 billion Syrian pounds, distributed among the various governorates, in addition to 700 hectares in the southern plains of Aleppo.
