Russia could launch another offensive on Kyiv in winter.

The plans speak for Vladimir Putin's angry defiance, comments Klaus Rimpel.

Munich - Vladimir Putin doesn't even want to grant the Ukrainians a little peace at Christmas.

On the contrary: there are many indications that Russia is planning a winter offensive and will try to conquer Kyiv for the second time via Belarus.

The current Russian strategy of rocket terror against the Ukrainian infrastructure leads to immeasurable suffering among the civilian population.

But the Kremlin cannot advance its plans for conquest with these bombings alone - especially since the now announced US delivery of the Patriot anti-aircraft system will hopefully improve the protection of the Ukrainians noticeably.

Putin's War in Ukraine: One Man's Bloody Defiance

Putin now wants to increase his army by 350,000 men, promises the "miracle weapon" zirconium, and once again threatens indirectly with the nuclear mace: none of this looks like a willingness to negotiate.

Rather, what speaks of Putin's announcements is the angry defiance of a man who would rather lead his people into misery than admit defeat.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy's spectacular journeys, first to embattled Bakhmut and now to the USA, are intended to give Ukrainians, exhausted by the war, new confidence.

Because frustration is also spreading on the Ukrainian side in view of the deadlocked front.

But the best propagandist for perseverance is Putin: No matter how bad the cold in the half-bombed apartment building may be, no matter how great the fear of the next hail of rockets: After the Russian orgy of violence that has been going on for 301 days, it is simply unthinkable that Ukrainians will ever go under again Moscow's leadership can live.
