The official spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, confirmed that the statements of the strategic communications coordinator in the US National Security Council, John Kirby, about Kyiv's right to conduct military operations on the territory of Crimea, confirm the US involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.
Zakharova said during a press conference in Moscow today: Kirby's statements are another recognition of the actual participation of the Americans in the hostilities on the side of the Ukrainian forces, adding that "the Ukrainian army has become a mercenary army of foreign weapons and trainers ... direct mercenaries from Western countries led by the United States."
Last Friday, Kirby confirmed that the United States recognizes Ukraine's right to plan and conduct military operations in Crimea because it considers it Ukrainian territory.
Zakharova explained that the West's supply of large quantities of weapons to Ukraine and turning a blind eye to the brutal crimes committed by its forces means that it seeks to confront Russia and prolong the conflict, stressing that the West will fail to achieve its goals.
