Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke tonight (Thursday) in front of the House of Representatives in the United States, a few hours after arriving in the country.
In his speech, Zelensky referred to the war that has been going on for ten months in his country and said that despite the difficult situation, "Ukraine is alive and kicking."
His entrance into the hall was accompanied by loud applause and prolonged applause from the audience and he began his speech with gratitude for his invitation.
In the hall, among others, Vice President Kamala Harris and Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi were present.
In his words, Zelensky called for continued financial support from the United States, but explained that "the money given is not charity.
This is an investment in global security and democracy that we handle in the most responsible way."
Zelensky also urged members of Congress to strengthen sanctions against Russia and "let terrorists be held accountable for aggression." He noted that United States President Joe Biden supported his 10-point peace plan,
"Ukraine is alive and kicking".

The Russians are "using everything" against Ukrainian cities such as Bakhmut, but Ukraine is "standing firm and will never surrender," Zelanksy said to thunderous applause.
"Last year, 70,000 people lived there in Behamed... Now there are only a few civilians left. Every centimeter of this land is soaked in blood... Donbass has changed hands several times in fierce battles, even hand-to-hand combat. But the Ukrainian Donbass stands," he said.
Zelensky also referred to Christmas, which will take place this Saturday, and said that Ukrainians will celebrate Christmas this year, despite the horrors of the war, "even if there is no electricity, the light of our faith in ourselves will not be extinguished," he told Congress.

Zelensky ended his speech by saying that Ukraine would achieve a "total victory," and repeated his opening remarks, which said that "Ukraine is alive and kicking."
