(m+) Bergfreunde: The outdoor online retailer left Globetrotter behind and says how he wants to continue to grow

Bergfreunde is the digital summiteer of the outdoor industry. Despite the crisis, the Tübingen company is growing - and has been doing so profitably for years. In an interview, the bosses Matthias Gebhard and Ronny Höhn say how the business will continue and clear up many a prejudice about dependent daughters and "dirty" e-commerce.

The pandemic gave the outdoor industry a further boost.

When the shops had to close, the outdoor specialist Bergfreunde was well prepared.

The company from near Tübingen was able to optimally serve the explosive demand.

Profitable right from the start, the rapidly growing trading company has meanwhile left many of its competitors behind - and is still growing at double-digit rates.

manager magazin: According to surveys, people across all income brackets want to spend less money at Christmas this year – in some cases up to 25 percent.

How strongly do you feel the reluctance to buy?

Matthias Gebhard:

Well, experts estimate the decline in online trade overall for the months of October and November to be 15 percent on average, over the year it should be less, but the decline will continue.

Based on that, we can be really satisfied.

Does that mean specifically?

Gebhard

: This year our turnover will have grown between 15 and 20 percent to 230 to 245 million euros, after 31 percent plus last year and 41 percent in 2020.
