The Netflix royals drama The Crown tells the story of the Windsors.

The death of Princess Diana is also an issue in the series.

However, eyewitnesses from the film set are horrified by the scenes.

Paris – Since the premiere of the first season on November 4, 2016, Netflix has consistently achieved outstanding ratings with the royals drama “The Crown”.

The successful series takes viewers through the history of the British royal family and begins with the youth of Queen Elizabeth II (†96) and her engagement to Prince Philip (†99).

Since the format illuminates several decades, the central characters are recast each season – most recently, "Harry Potter" star Imelda Staunton (66) wore Her Majesty's crown.

"Filming very awkward": Final season of "The Crown" shows death of Princess Diana

On November 9th, 2022, the fifth season of the audience favorite premiered on the streaming giant and dealt in great detail with Princess Diana († 36) falling out with the royal family and the release of the revealing book "Diana: Her True Story".

The final installment of The Crown, which is currently being filmed in Paris and is due for release in 2023, will inevitably also address the fatal car accident on August 31, 1997 and the funeral of Lady Di, played by Elizabeth Debicki (32).

"The Crown" has already been sharply criticized in the past, but the upcoming episodes in particular are met with great outrage.

Speaking to British newspaper

The Sun

, eyewitnesses told the filming that Debicki had to lie in an open coffin while Charles (Dominic West, 53) paid his last respects.

“Netflix bosses overdid it in their ratings chase.

Filming was very uncomfortable for everyone.

It's obscene and should be banned from airing," said a source.

"The Crown": Friends of Diana react to controversial Royals drama

Even friends of Princess Diana are shocked in advance by the death scenes in the final season of "The Crown".

"This is sick, sick, sick.

Can they go any lower?” her friend Simone Simmonds fired at Netflix, speaking to

The Sun

, “Then why don't they dig their grave right now?”.

Her former bodyguard, Ken Wharfe, also told the newspaper about the shooting in Paris, assuring that William would find the images "disgusting" and Charles would be "appalled".

'Clearly upset': 'The Crown' cast outraged by Diana scenes

The fact that Diana's death is shown in "The Crown" cannot be avoided, but according to eyewitnesses, macabre details were not spared.

“They hired real doctors for the scenes.

Nurses also stand around the lifeless body.

There's blood everywhere - on the scrubs and gloves of the operating doctors and on the door," it said. "There were conversations on set between the cast who were clearly upset at what was being asked of them."

Prince William (40 ) and Prince Harry (38), who were only 15 and 12 years old at the time of their mother's death, are likely to be hit hard by the tragic pictures.

It remains to be seen how much of the controversial footage will actually be used in the final installments of the Royals drama.

Nevertheless, the final moments of "The Crown" are likely to cause many negative voices again next year - and revive one of the darkest chapters of the Windsors.

The documentary series by Diana's youngest son also causes a stir – mainly because Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (41) partly filmed the Netflix project in a strange house.
