There is good news for Christmas: the family that used to live in the youth center building has found a new home.

This means that the plans of the municipality of Peiting for the new construction of the facility can finally pick up speed.

Peiting – For almost two years, the municipality of Peiting had been looking for alternative accommodation for the family of six, who had previously lived in the apartment building next to the youth center.

As is well known, the market had acquired the entire area including the building in 2020 in order to create a long-term solution for the aging Juze.

Just a few weeks ago, good advice seemed expensive for the community after the project threatened to be delayed again because the house was still occupied.

Manager Stefan Kort announced to the local newspaper that in the context of the budget debate they would think about “how we should deal with it”.

It wouldn't have been the first time the community had to reconsider its plans for the youth center.

As early as 2015, the municipality was aware of the poor structural condition of the Juze premises on Lorystrasse.

At that time, the idea of moving the facility to the former teacher's house on Bahnhofstrasse was considered, but the plan fell through in 2017 due to the high costs of the conversion.

The municipality bought the area in 2020

A year later, everything seemed to be heading towards a new building on a plot of land at the Forsthaus next to the Schloßberghalle, but these considerations were rejected again when the municipal property on the corner of Kampfgartenweg and Jägerstrasse came into focus in 2019 - despite protests from the residents there.

With the death of the owner of the old Juze building in 2020, the cards were reshuffled again.

The municipality acquired the area with the intention of creating a new home for the youth center at the previous location.

We have now come a good deal closer to this goal.

"The family has moved out," Kort can confirm with relief.

The good news had reached the community quite surprisingly shortly before Christmas.

"Of course we are very happy that the family found accommodation on their own in a neighboring town," says the manager.

The plan is expected to be awarded next year

This finally seems to pave the way for a new youth center that the Peitingen youths and the employees of the facility have been waiting for for so long.

"The goal is that we will outsource the planning services to a suitable office in the coming year," says market builder Christian Hack when asked by SN.

The excavators could then roll on the site the following year.

According to Hack, everything boils down to a new building.

Due to the condition of the extension in which the Juze is housed, the only option would be to demolish it, and the previous residential building would also have to be completely renovated.

Converting it for use as a youth center and meeting all the requirements, such as fire protection, "is very difficult, especially in the old building".
